They will not go quietly,
the pets who’ve shared our lives.
In subtle ways they let us know
their spirit still survives.
Old habits still can make us think
we hear them at the door,
Or step back when we drop
a tasty morsel on the floor.
And although time may bring new friends
and a new food dish to fill,
That one place in our hearts
belongs to them…
and always will.
I’m Stash. Hi. I can easily be easily recognized in a crowd as I am a Rottweiler with a tail! I’m told it is the standard now in Europe for my kind to have a tail. Nonetheless, it is still not very common at this end of the world. Anyway, it is amazing how circumstances change. One minute I am surrounded by a family with kids, the next I’m being driven away to a new home. I’m not sure I know what the circumstances were, but I am so thankful that my owners cared enough to ensure that I would be placed in a safe and loving environment.
Even though the people here are really nice and I would like to think that my previous owners gave me up with the best of intentions, I found the change in my environment to be extremely stressful. So much so that less than 2 weeks after my arrival my stress started a serious chain of events that landed me in the hospital for 5 days. Talk about putting things into perspective. After that experience all I wanted was to come back here.
Now that I have scared everybody, including myself, I am recovering and looking forward to the day when I am well enough to be paired with a friend to play with.
